The characteristics of different storage objects—such as weight, shape, and temperature/humidity requirements—determine the type of shelving. Below are tailored solutions for three core scenarios.
1. Raw and Auxiliary Material Storage Area (Grains, Qu Kuai, etc.)
· Applicable Shelves : Heavy-duty beam racking, drive-in racking
· Core Requirements :
i. Strong load-bearing capacity: a single storage location must support 500–1,500 kg, matching the weight of grain and bulk bags as well as curved block pallets.
ii. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent grain from becoming damp and moldy; maintain a minimum 0.8-meter aisle space between shelves, complemented by the warehouse's ventilation system.
iii. Implement zone management by categorizing storage locations according to grain type (sorghum, wheat) and koji block type (mesophilic koji, thermophilic koji), with clear labels affixed to each area.
2. Brewing Equipment / Tool Area (Fermentation Tanks, Distillation Apparatus, etc.)
· Applicable Shelves : Heavy-duty pallet racking, cantilever racks
· Core Requirements :
i. The shelf is thickened, using 3-5mm cold-rolled steel plates that can accommodate the irregular shapes and weights of fermentation tanks and stainless steel equipment.
ii. The floor height is adjustable, allowing flexible customization of the spacing between levels according to equipment height (minimum recommended floor height: 0.5 meters), thus preventing wasted space.
iii. Near the work area, the shelving zone must be located adjacent to the brewing workshop to minimize equipment handling distances and enhance operational efficiency.
3. Finished/Semi-finished Wine Storage Area (Jar-packed and Bottle-packed Wine)
· Applicable Shelves : Shuttle racking (high-density storage), mezzanine racking (dual-level space utilization)
· Core Requirements :
i. Collision-proof design: Anti-collision foot guards are installed on the shelf uprights, and anti-slip strips are affixed to the edges of the shelf boards, preventing bottles of wine from tipping over.
ii. Temperature and humidity control: If storing finished wine products, the shelving area must be equipped with a constant-temperature and constant-humidity system, and the shelving material should be rust-resistant steel (such as Q235B).
iii. First-in, first-out—when using shuttle racks, "first-in, first-out" is achieved via shuttle cars, ensuring compliance with Baijiu turnover management standards.
Key Principles for Solution Design
1. Compliance First : Must comply with the "Fire Protection Code for Baijiu Distilleries." Shelving materials must be non-combustible, and their distance from fire hydrants and sprinkler heads must exceed 0.5 meters. Additionally, aisle widths must meet fire evacuation requirements (main aisles ≥1.8 meters, secondary aisles ≥1.2 meters).
2. Load-bearing match : Select shelving based on the weight of the stored items to avoid overloading. For example, when storing ton bags of grain, choose heavy-duty shelving capable of supporting more than 1.5 tons; for bottled wine, medium-duty shelving with a load capacity of 500 kg would be suitable.
3. Assignment Adaptation : When designing shelf spacing in conjunction with handling equipment, if forklifts are used, the aisle width for beam-type racks should be reserved at 3–4 meters; however, if manual hydraulic carts are employed, an aisle width of just 1.5 meters is sufficient.
